Welcome to the Geophysic's Research Group!
Geophysics comprises the study of the physics of the Earth's interior. It is the science which treats the exploration of Earth structures on local to global scales by physical methods. It aims the understanding of natural phenomena and processes controlling the evolution of the Earth. Our research group concentrates on investigating and understanding structures and processes in the Earth's lithosphere relevant for instances in:
- the estimation of geological hazards like earthquakes, landslides, and permafrost regression
- the exploration of natural resources, such as groundwater
- environmental protection, remediation, and monitoring of geochemical and microbiological processes
- safety and operating efficiency in geotechnical engineering
